August 2012
so I started using Google calendar to keep track of fandom community events. mainly the deadlines for the Johnlock gift exchange and the fuckyeahjohnlockfanfic contest. August is going to be a busy month for me. but that’s okay. it feels good to be a part of something, you know?
I just hope I can come up with something for the contest. I’m no good at casefic, so I’ll have to do an experiment-themed fic…and I don’t know if the two or three ideas I have so far are good enough. one is ridiculously angsty, and I don’t know if I want to write something angsty. I haven’t written angst yet in this fandom, but when I was in the Lord of the Rings fandom in high school, I had a lot of fun writing angst fics. but I don’t know if I want my contest entry to be my first stab at Sherlock-angst. I should probably stick to my strengths? maybe I’m overthinking this. I’m an Aries, so…a bit competitive.
and then there’s the length issue. 7,500 minimum is loooong, man! I don’t think I’ve ever written a fic that long, so…eep. we’ll see what happens.
July 2012
so it seems like everyone and their mother has been reading School for Scandal lately, so I decided to join in…
keysmashing and spoilers through chapter 13, ahoy!
Right? I spent a whole day reading that one. And agreed about John’s odd choice of words… there is definitely some “the physics of fanfic sex” type missteps, in this one. It’s just so cheesy and addictive, though.
it’s kind of like an MTV high school drama. which I guess is probably the point. and I am tooootally okay with that.

I don’t think that’s the importer. I think that’s the weirdo code the word processing programs clutter up their documents with.
I was importing a Livejournal entry, which was mostly copypasta’d from Word, but this random centering didn’t show up in the html of the LJ entry.
eh, whatever. there is extra code in the LJ entry, too, that didn’t show up in AO3. I suspect everybody’s to blame.
